The smart way to feel happier and lose weight
I trademarked the name 'Weight Smart' as a name for the Programs I'm developing around emotional eating. I have a number of pieces of the puzzle around doing it in a smart way, and I will be sharing it on my blog. A couple of points:
  • when people use energy psychology techniques (such as EFT, TAT and BSFF people become happier and more emotionally free - and it happens often rapidly - and people often lose weight as a result
  • we need all our being to be 100% certain that losing weight is a good idea, internal conflicts don't help
  • we need finsd ways to be focused and monitor our behaviour to make the lifestyle and habit changes that need to happen
  • we need to build more happiness in our lives - positive psycholoogy research helps us to know how to do that
  • We need to build our powerfulness so that we are brave enough to initiate changes and problem solve to improve our lot
  • We need to know ourselves - our values, goals and have a vision for a bigger, braver life of purpose and meaning beyond the goal of losing weight
How do you think we can be smart enough to overcome emotional eating?
What is it that helps us make the ultimate decision or mindset change that will ensure we make long term permanant lifestyle changes? Its a long time since my last posting - the teleconference program (Weight Loss Challenge) had its limits - the teleconference model didn't work for lots of reasons - too difficult to ring the international number - and challenging to avoid interupting each other over the call - so back to doing emotional eating workshops - and I'm running one later this month.
A tragedy helps!?
Often there is a tragedy or major change in a person's life that leads them to have a mental shift in perspective that leads to significant lifestyle change such as giving up alcohol or eating better. In his book the Gabriel method the author John Gabriel lost an enormous amount of weight and the turning point were- through a stroke of luck not being on one of the planes that crashed into the twin towers in New York on September 11 - and then losing his financial business in New York city as a result of Sept 11.
People who have lost alot of weight and have managed to keep it off indicate that there was often a significant event or life experience prior to making this decision - a paradigm shift or mental revolution of sorts. (National Weight Loss Registry Study)

How can we encourage this mental revolution or mind shift without having to undergo a tragedy or finding that our health has already deteriorated? What can help us to get focused and give priority to our health and other important needs in our lives?

Getting focused for me.... paying lots of money
A few years back I paid a lot of money ($900) to do a weight loss Program - it worked but not because it was a good Program - making the decision to spend that money was a turning point, my friends thought I was crazy - but it helped me to get focused - I wasn't going to throw that kind of money down the drain. Meeting with someone weekly- even for just a few minutes also kept me focused ...gradually some of that weight has come back on and I'm now aware that again I need to get focused...running workshops will help

What mental revolution or mindset shift is going to work (or has already worked )for you - how are you going to be in the mental location where you make the decision that its time to stop putting it off?

Maybe its about all of us making that decision - our bodies, conscious and unconscious minds, soul (whatever that is...) . Often there is a conflict inside us and there are some advantages to not losing weight and not making healthy lifestyle choices... perhaps our weight keeps men away ...or we can obsess about food and weight and not get on with developing a fulfilling ( but challenging) life or if love won't provide us with love where else can we turn...etc.

What is the downside of choosing to be healthy and losing weight for you?

Join and share our weight loss journey

Are you fed up with dieting.. putting weight back on etc.?
This is a blog where you can share your weight loss journey, and join the journey of nine women who are participating in a three month experiment. They are trying to lose weight differently, and hopefully more permanently! This is a psychological and whole of life approach, combining weekly teleconference calls (teleclasses) email coaching with a focus on changing thoughts and feelings in relation to food and eating.
Will it work? This blog will record the journey - I will be including some videos to share personal healing techniques and my thoughts, and learnings with you... say hello and share your experiences!
